The future of the internet is metaverse

After the recent announcement of Facebook about its major rebranding to Meta during the Facebook Connect Conference, it is clear that Mark Zuckerberg believes that metaverse is the future of the internet.

After about 17 years since its founding, Facebook and the other apps and services it acquired will be under a parent company called Meta.

The name change unveiled the company’s vision for metaverse – a virtual world powered by Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Metaverse bridges online social experiences and the physical world. It will give a whole new definition of social media and a step ahead to internet evolution.

The Message

In a Facebook post, Mark Zuckerberg shared a letter addressed to the public about the company’s biggest announcement.

“In this future, you will be able to teleport instantly as a hologram to be at the office without a commute, at a concert with friends, or in your parent’s living room to catch up.”

He added, in addition, “This will open up more opportunities no matter where you live. You’ll be able to spend more time on what matters to you, cut downtime in traffic, and reduce your carbon footprint.”

The future that Meta wants us to imagine is a world closer together more than ever. It’s a future that knows no distance. Hence, there will be more opportunities to socialize and revolutionize businesses.

Imagine what a 3D holographic marketplace would look like. It will surely raise competition. There will be a battle of marketing strategies and resources that industry leaders should be ready for.

In a separate FB post, Mark shared that Meta will focus on unlocking opportunities for creators to make money from their work. Meta is going to be a creator-friendly platform that will allow more collaborations between brands and creators.

Insurers and Meta

To insurers, Meta is the perfect opportunity to build stronger relationships with customers, to save more lives, businesses, and a lot of valuable things. It is the ideal platform for real-life situations to provide answers, give advice, and raise awareness. It will create unprecedented changes in many insurance critical processes.

Meta promises us a future that we once imagined – a world in which we can always be present. It will destroy barriers and open numerous opportunities we thought were impossible.

Cryptocurrency will play an essential role in this future. There will be a proliferation of non-fungible tokens or NFTs. And Crypto is not new in the insurance industry. Who knows what responsibilities are we going to partake in this journey. Nonetheless, we’ve always been agile and agents of change.

Above all, there is one lesson we could derive from here. Like Meta, let’s not stop developing because there is always something beyond where we currently are. We just have to look for it.
